Lila and Bennett are 5!!

Lila and Bennett have been counting down the days until their birthday for months!! The youngest in their class at school, they have watched all of their classmates celebrate and have been (im)patiently waiting for their turn.
Friday was the big day!!!!
Lila woke up bright and early super excited that she was 5 years old. She immediately put on the new bathing suit she had picked out with Aunt Mo on Thursday. Since we rarely have time with just her alone, David and I decided to go ahead and let her open her little gifts with us.

She was very excited about her little Ariel....

and Lalaloopsy!

Then Bennett was up next and was THRILLED to complete his collection of Transformers Rescuebots. David treated them to donuts for breakfast, and picked up some boxes of donut holes to share with their teammates at swim practice. I wish I had pics, but the sweet coaches really made their morning special. They had a Happy Birthday war- the girls sang to Lila, then the boys sang to Bennett and then they kept getting louder and louder to see who would "win". And they put Lila up on the diving board while they sang! It was super cute!!
After practice we went to SuSu and G's house for a little while to hang out with them, and with Mo, Phillip, Mac and Mae! Lila and Bennett were sooooo thrilled to have their cousins here to celebrate their birthday!

We are FIVE! Can you believe it, Mom?? (No...I really can't!)

Bennett loves to hold the babies...

All of the cousins hanging out...

Shocker that the twins wanted to spend some time on their birthday at the pool (our home away from home), so that afternoon I took them swimming for a few hours. It was a pleasant surprise to have David meet up with us after coming home a little early from work! He got our yard ready for the party Saturday and then joined us for a little fun in the pool.
Then we got ready for a big birthday dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant...

Lila picked out a dress and added some birthday jewels for dinner....

Looking pretty grown up in the above pic....

And then like goofy 5 year olds...

Feliz Cumpleanos!!
The kids were thrilled to have my whole family together at a restaurant! I am grateful to my parents, the Mize family, and Jared and Erinn for making their birthday so special that night...we really had a good time. I think the long day got the best of the kids, and at one point I thought Elise may fall asleep at the table, but it was a pretty successful dinner considering we had 2 five month olds, 2 five year olds, and (as she likes to say) a 6 3/4 year old!

Happy birthday to the biggest and best surprises I have ever received! You make me smile everyday!! Love you Lila and Bennett!!!!!
