date night

Last night we had a date night! I did something fun with the girls, and David and Bennett had some guy time! I was thrilled when Bonnie Kate invited us to go and see a very small, local performance of Pinkalicious. It is one of Elise's favorite books, and Lila is obsessed with pink- so I knew they would both love it. But, more than that I was sooo excited to spend some time with BK and Mary Miller. As the kids get older and more involved in their respective activities and schools, the fact that we live in different towns (although not that far apart) makes it harder and harder to see each other on a regular basis. Gone are the days of play dates with Elise and Will toddling around while MM and the twins hung out in their car seats!! It was not hard to figure out where our ladies would like to have their pre-show dinner- the fabulous Chik Fil-A, of course! After dinner we headed to the play....it was definitely not what Bonnie Kate and I had expected, but all four of the girls (BK's precious neice, Caroline, joined us) LOVED it. The girls got to sit on the front row on little benches and felt super special...

It was pretty funny, and quite typical, that during intermission all of the girls got pink cupcakes as a treat....except for Lila- she went straight to the fritos! She is a salt-lover like her Mom!! The last picture is Lila and Mary Miller with the stars of the show...Pinkalicious herself, and her brother. We had a great time...Lila and Mary Miller are like two little peas in a pod and were both soo sad when the night was over. We have got to get those girls together more often. They had sooo much fun and were cracking each other up!

David gave Bennett carte blanche to choose what they did and so off to "Old MacDonald's" they went. They finished off their night with a trip to the sno-ball stand. David said the night was filled with lots of thumbs up from Bennett. I think he had a blast!! Now it is time to schedule a girl's date with David and some time for Bennett and I. Can't wait!
