a "friend" visits and the soccer season ends

Elise was super excited to be chosen to take Bananas home for the second time this year! Friday after school he accompanied her on her play-date, and then they had a "slumber" party in her room. She had his sleeping arrangements all planned out.....of course. Saturday morning Bananas got to go with the kids and David to the bakery and choose his breakfast!

Elise said he wanted bananas foster! This is, by far, Elise's favorite meal of the week. She has quite the sweet tooth! At least that means she does love fruit.....because she doesn't love much else!
After breakfast, Bananas went with Elise and me to her final soccer game of the season. The only games we have missed were because of our Disney trip, and David really loves coaching the girls. But, he had been invited to play in a big golf tournament this weekend and so we decided he should go...I think we are both realizing more and more lately, that although our children are hands down our number one priority, we don't have to revolve our entire life around them. It is good for us to do some things for us too! So, we are both working towards finding a little more balance as they get older... A kind of funny story goes with this realization though....David didn't want to lie to Elise, but up until late last week he had just explained that he had to miss her game. She hadn't really asked any questions. Well, then the questions started...So, David told her the truth, that he was playing golf. In addition, I had the whole talk with her about how she loves to go on
play dates with her friends and to see them at ballet and soccer, and that Daddy works so much and spends all of his free time with us, and so every now and then he needs to have a play date too. Her response? "Well, why is Daddy saying he has to miss my game, when really he is just picking golf?!!"

I swear, nothing gets past that girl. Then to put another nail in the coffin, she scored a goal!!!!!! After a few weeks of lethargic play she actually went after the ball a little more and was so thrilled she scored! We called David right away to tell him the good news....and the fact that Bananas (you don't know how big of a deal Bananas is in their
pre-k class) witnessed it made it even better!

Here is a shot of all of the precious P
inkalicious Unicorns! They are an adorable team and had lots of fun. I've enjoyed getting to know all of the parents and am sad that the teams will all be mixed up next season....IF Elise decides to play again... We topped off our great weekend by celebrating Miss Myrt's 3rd birthday- which was probably one of the cutest birthday parties I have ever been to- and I have made some rounds!!! I wish I had taken some pics, but I know Kate had her camera handy, and I can't wait to see them. Sunday Elise decked Bananas out for church, and then he took a nap while we made our first family trip to the pool....what a way to top off a fun, full weekend!!
